More Progress

I am nearing the end of my project. Mrs. Hill showed me an excel program showing the energy costs of all the rooms in South. Now all I have to do is take out all of the South rooms which might take a while. Then I'll be able to see if we will be able to cover the Solar Panel I had planned.

Three More Weeks!

Well hello everybody! It looks like you are doing a fine job on your projects. I am working on a project I thought you might be interested in. I'm writing a grant application for earning 1,000 dollars for our school and I'm planning on requesting a product for our school called Paper Cut which limits the number of printed pages for each student. Cool, right?

Good Work on your projects!

Data Collection

S:/solar_panel.htm, this is another link that will link to an excel document showing two graphs of possible costs for the solar panels with estimates of possible energy use in a monthly electric bill and in the form of how many kilowatt hours we use each year. If the link doesn't work, you can click on the picture. We can probably conclude that the solar panels will probably cost anywhere from 20 to 150 thousand dollars.

Chapter 7: Mr. Fusspot Did It

Mr. Fusspot is going to type, based on Lexie's demands. He will type about his project, and the house, and other stuff, too. Perhaps he will not type about clowns. Maybe, this post will not have colors in it, but by now it's too late for that... Perhaps the post will even be relevant! Wouldn't that be grand, but it won't, because Mr. Fusspot doesn't want it to, so there you have it! Mr. Fusspot's irrelevant post.

Blog or be failed.

Do it.

Chapter 6: Mr. Fusspot -cough- Ain't dead -cough- Yet!

Mr. Fusspot will -hack- not be here today. He's -snort- a bit under the weather, and then some. He's going to be resting a -sniffle- bit now. Have a -sneeze- wonderful day, Community Outreach...

The spotted owl: jacob :)

The spotted owl has been on the endangered species list sense 1990. The spotted owl has about 4720 left in the world.

Chapter 5: Final Finality of Costly Costs

Mr. Fusspot knows the value of a good house... About 300k, in fact. Then there's the other costs, and the contractors, and the labor costs, and the clowns, so maybe a bit more, say Fusspot. Still, only 300k is a good price, he believes. Mr. Fusspot also believes that there are little leprechauns living in his fruit snacks, so go figure...

Vienna is a sausage.

Or so I hear. Apparently, Microsoft is coming out with codename: 'Vienna' sometime in 2009. Good riddance to Vista, I say. It keeps crashing the poor Dell. Anyways, it brings us comfort to know that a multi-million dollar company has resorted to naming their operating systems after food. Whats next? The Turky? Also, Mircrosoft names their prototypes after mountain ski resorts. Maybe this is a cry for help from the poor programmers chained to their desks? XP was Whistler, after the mpuntain in Canada, and Vienna was Blackcomb. So, I guess a sausage is better then a hair product. Though... I do hesitate to buy anything named after a food. Mac can take advantage of this, however. Before we can get to that, however, I'd like to point out Mac is also a hamburger that could potentially kill you. Also, they use Apples. Thus, Mac is enforcing the american obesity crisis! Thay are at fault! Shun! Shun the beautiful operating system! Now for a commercial break:

Mac: My operating sytem is fierce like a leopard! Rawr! Purty leopard that does not get thrown against the wall in anguish! Go leopards!

PC: My oerating system just makes me hungry... and want to ski.

Mac: Hey. You've got some programmers escaping.

PC: I can't give chase. My cholesterol is too high from looking at you, you fat burger.

Mac: ... I'm still better then you.

PC: ... Sob... I know.

On another notes, the Nerdlets are getting their own web pages tomarrow. There is much rejoicing.

Possible Costs

S:\solar_panel.htm hopefully this link will take you to an excel worksheet showing a graph of some possible costs for solar panels. Please tell me if it works.

Chapter 4: Mr. Fusspot, He Wrote

Mr. Fusspot is totally ready to do this! First, he knows that Houses are Money, and Money is Time, and Time is relative, thus Houses are relative! If so, hypothetically, Mr. Fusspot could just sit and watch the House grow with no work or cost. What a nice dream that was...

Forney Part Deux

Students,
You are doing an excellent job on your projects. . . for the most part. If you are reading this, you are one of the extra hard workers and must be thinking about your project at least. I wanted to share something that Winston Churchill said, "You can't go back and change history, but you can change the future." That's what you're doing through these projects. GOOD WORK>

Mrs. Forney, your teacher

PS- We missed you today Lexie!

More Info

I forgot to say some things with my last post, and I found some new information. Sunnergy Systems seems like a good place to try to contact. They provide services for commercial businesses looking for solar panel. They would help design and install the solar panels. Also, we might be able to get up to $35,000 dollars from PGE for switching to solar power. They would give us $1.25 dollars for per watt. Thats all for now.

Finding solar panel costs

Right now I want to find a way to get solar panels for our green schoolhouse. I guess the first step is to find a contractor who can help us with all the paperwork involved in installing a solar powered system. Before that, I want to find out what cost range we're looking at, and before that we have to figure out our energy usage at Howard Street. Of course to do that, we have to get "Watts" up things to measure the our usage. I guess we're doing it one step at a time.

Question: How much dose the endangered species act help the world.

Background knowledge: some people think the endangered species act is a bad idea because if an animal on the endangered species act live on your property you cant build anything.a women in Florida bot some land to build a house she can use while in her wheal chair and she stays in a House where she has to shower with a hose because the bathroom is upstairs all because Florida scrub jays live on her property.

Hypothesis: the endangered species act doesn't help as much as you think.

Research: there are 4000 scrub jays in Florida and 12500 in the north west.

Chapter 3: In which Mr. Fusspot has yet another change of plans

Mr. Fusspot wishes that all ye know that now his project will be a three person project with Joseph and Lexie, working on building a new schoolhouse for HSCS, which will be steel and such, making it tree-friendly, and also energy efficient, generating much of its own power with wind and solar panels. Mr. Fusspot may seem indecisive, but he thinks he knows what he's doing... He thinks. That is all Mr. Fusspot has to say about that.

Mr. Fusspot's still not dead!

As the title says, Mr. Fusspot's still not dead, though his first project is, so now he wishes that you know that he is doing "Wind Energy", an alternative to "Normal Electric Energy", which kicks puppies and thus should not be used. "Wind Energy" supports puppies and gives old people discounts on laundry, making it a real, vaguely American hero. As you can see, he is really enjoying the font choices here. Returning to the actual topic, Mr. Fusspot believes that Howard Street can be run on a mix of Solar and Wind energy, which would be more environmentally friendly. Yay, says Mr. Fusspot.

jacob

1. Community is a group of people or animals living in the same place like the Howard Street community or the spotted owl community.
2. I hope to reach the Howard Street community and prove that the endangered species act is a good idea but animals are still disappearing from the earth even with the endangered species act.

Progress

Hopefully I have made some progress on my project. I found a company in Salem called Summers Solar Systems which we might be able to contact. I also hope we can learn more from Mr. Goodwin. Good luck everybody!

Bow down to your moderator.

Bow down, I say. Now, remember, your blog entries are due friday, so make sure to just give us an update. Also, remember that we don't want rude language here, otherwise your post will be deleted either by me or Mrs. Forney. (If they wouldn't say it on 'Spongebob.' don't say it here.)

Also, Scrubs rocks.
Also also, the Humane Society thing is going great. More once we have a schedule.

Mr. Fusspot makes an inside joke/announcement

For great justice! Mr. Fusspot wishes it to be known that he will now be known as "Ray", much against his wishes. "Ray" also wishes to say that his project's progress will be recorded on this blog. Mr. Fus-"Ray" is not responsible for any injuries incurred from reading his third person dialogues.

Lexie's genuis idea took shape and now we're all on the technology train. If you have ideas to share or resources to give, please contact us at Howard Street School. We would love to have guest speakers, guidance, or just plain physical labor help.

Students in this Community Outreach class are investigating video, paper use and how it affects us, alternative fuels, help for veterans, endangered species act, solar power, and human powered fuel.
